Explore Hobart
Welcome to Hobart
Welcome to Hobart, Australia’s second oldest city. A destination where we are lucky enough to experience a beautiful mountain-and-river combo, cultural and dining experiences that set the city apart and adventures like no other.
The underground Museum of Old and New Art, aka MONA, looms large in global art circles and features prominently on countless travellers’ itineraries.
The city’s food scene is dynamic, with cafes, restaurants and bars transforming Tasmania’s famously fresh produce into refined expressions of place and season. While in Hobart why not attend the famed Salamanca Market which has been a Saturday tradition for more than 50 years.
See Hobart from the water, or even from the saddle of a bike on a mountain descent. Taste wine at urban wineries, and when the day is almost done, sip a whisky beside a dinosaur fossil. There’s lots to do in between sessions at the Asia Pacific Coroners Society Conference, so why not experience Hobart and all that it has to offer. For more information please see the links below.
Weather
Hobart in October is spring in transition, cool, fresh, and quietly bright.
Days hover around 15°C, with crisp mornings and mild afternoons. The sun lingers longer, but coastal breezes still carry a chill, and light, passing rain isn’t uncommon. It’s a season in-between—winter easing out, summer not quite settled in.
What to pack: layers are key. Bring a light jacket or coat, long sleeves, and a jumper for cooler mornings and evenings, plus a compact umbrella or rain jacket for sudden showers. Sunglasses are handy too, the sun can be surprisingly sharp.
